Welcome to the 2009-10 school year! It is so nice to have teachers and students back in the buildings. Although I get a lot of work done in the month of August while you folks are away, I miss the hum of school and the excitement of discovery. Having you all back is a joy.
You will notice that we are going to be making a few changes this year. I won’t be sending my weekly message as I have for the last two years, but I will be working with Jennifer Griffin and Donna Murray to provide a monthly newsletter each month. Look for The Water Cooler on September 1 and the first day of each month. What better to accompany your pay check than a resource full of instructional strategies, upcoming events, and Spotlight on Teaching. That’s right! Spotlight is back! So, if you have a colleague who brings curriculum to life with innovative teaching strategies, collaboration, 21st century tools, and cross-curricular lessons that meet the needs of our diverse student population, drop one of us an E-mail!
Most of you will remember this video from last year, but it is a reminder to you about how important you are to all of our students. And…it is a great way to reintroduce what Spotlight is all about.
One of my favorite parts of this job is to work with you, celebrate the wonderful work you do with our kids, and provide you with what you need to make your classroom a better place. Please let me know how I can help you this year. I look forward to working with you.
